In spite of my fellow peers stating their own opinions of my own opinions on how, "if you're not 18, your opinion is irrelevant," I believe that it is perfectly normal and perfectly okay for I, a sixteen year old, to have opinions regarding politics and to have already considered myself a member of the Democratic Party. I believe that it is perfectly fine that I actually care about my future and want to be thoroughly informed by the time I am 20 years old, ready to vote in the first election I am actually able to vote in, in 2016. Unlike most easily influenced teenagers, I have not allowed my Republican, conservative father to cloud my perception of liberalism or even my Democratic mother to obscure my views on the GOP, although I have appreciated their insight of each party to help me further establish what I do and do not condone. If I could've voted November 6th, I would've cast my ballot for Barack Obama as President, and Joe Biden for Vice President. Amidst watching all of the debates, I felt as if President Obama was more connected to the American audience and came off as the more authentic candidate by not only his charm and wit, which are really very minuscule in my decision, but his capability to rigorously address pressing topics from the American people and keep his composure in every aspect of doing so. Going into depth, civil rights liberties implemented in Barack Obama's plan to lead our nation which are absent from Mitt Romney's plan, play a major decisive role in why i'd choose to vote for President Obama. Women's rights weighing the heaviest of said civil rights are protected by Barack Obama. Obama has signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which gives women the structure and support to fight for equal pay of equal work considering women are still 'til this day earning 77 cents for very dollar a man makes for the same amount of work. I'm also an advocate for women's health care reform and in the wise words of Tina Fey, I don't believe it is right for "grey faced men" to have a say on what a woman can and cannot do with her own body. I support gay equality rights and believe that every American, no matter what race, gender, or sexual orientation should have the same respect and deserves to marry who they're in love with. I in addition support the Obama/Biden decision to double Pell Grants which will help me and my family pay for my college tuition. I also sustain the tax cuts for middle income families like my own, and believe that people who actually have money and are able to pay higher taxes such as multi-millionaires and multi-billionaires to do so and pay their fair share. I support President Obama's decision to end the war in Iraq and bring home our troops. I also find it completely settling to know that my president, Barack Obama, is working hard to prevent nuclear weapons entering the hands of Iran and North Korea. Some of the key issues I've stated that citizens of the United States face today are not handled as well by Mitt Romney as President Barack Obama. I have my upmost respect for Governor Romney and do admire his intelligence, but I do not agree with his conservative policies as being fit to run a nation as outspoken as the United States. That is why i'd vote for Barack Obama.
